He is the President of the General Assembly. Historian, Professor and Teacher Trainer. He did his Doctoral Thesis on Gago Coutinho. He has published books and dozens of scientific articles in national and foreign journals and has organised and collaborated in various national and international colloquia, whose conferences are published in the respective proceedings.
He is President of the History Section of the Lisbon Geographic Society, a full member of the Maritime History Class of the Navy Academy, member of the Portuguese Academy of History, integrated researcher of the History Centre of the University of Lisbon, collaborator researcher of the Centre of Lusophone and European Literatures and Cultures of the University of Lisbon, collaborating researcher of the Institute of Medieval Studies of the New University of Lisbon, member of the Historical and Geographical Institute of São Paulo, member of the Historical and Geographical Institute of Espírito Santo, member of the Association of Portuguese Archaeologists and of the Joaquim Veríssimo Serrão Research Centre.
